Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the most common questions that we are asked as speech providers. If you have additional questions, contact us today and we will be happy to answer them!
-
Speech Spot is a private-pay practice and is not in-network with insurance providers. However, we are happy to provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. We also accept HSA (Health Savings Account) payments.
Being a private-pay practice allows us the flexibility to make clinical decisions based on what is best for each child and family, rather than being limited by insurance requirements or restrictions. This means we can focus on individualized care, meaningful progress, and your child's unique needs.
-
A superbill is an itemized receipt for speech therapy services that you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. It includes information about the services provided, dates of service, and payment details. Your insurance company will determine whether your plan offers reimbursement and how much may be covered.

We believe every family deserves access to support that works for their needs and budget. We offer flexible plans of care, including every-other-week or monthly sessions paired with individualized at-home practice activities to help carry over skills between visits.
We also offer small-group speech and language services, which provide opportunities for children to build communication skills, learn alongside peers, and practice in a fun, supportive environment at a lower cost than individual therapy.
-
Absolutely! We understand that waitlists can be long, and we don't want your child to miss out on valuable opportunities to build their communication skills while waiting.
Your child is welcome to receive services at Speech Spot in the meantime. We can work with your family to develop an individualized plan of care that supports your child's needs during the wait.
-
School-based speech therapy and private speech therapy have different eligibility requirements. A child may not qualify for services through their school but may still benefit from individualized speech and language support.
At Speech Spot, we look at the whole child, their unique communication needs, and how those needs impact everyday life—not just whether they meet school eligibility criteria.
-
Not necessarily - if your child has had a recent speech-language evaluation or has an IEP with established speech and language goals, we may be able to use that information to guide services. In some cases, a full formal assessment may not be necessary.
If your child has never been evaluated or needs an updated evaluation, we can help with that, too!
Our goal is to understand your child's unique strengths and needs so we can create a plan of care that provides the right support from the start.
-
Yes! We partner with local daycares and preschools to provide speech and language services in familiar, comfortable environments. Seeing children in their everyday settings allows us to incorporate communication skills into natural routines, play, and social interactions.
Reach out to us to see if we currently serve your child's daycare or preschool, or to discuss options for bringing services to their location!

School-based speech therapy focuses on helping children access their education and make progress with communication skills that impact their ability to participate and succeed in the school environment. Services are determined by educational eligibility criteria and outlined in your child's IEP.
Private speech therapy at Speech Spot takes a more individualized approach, focusing on your child's overall communication development and goals that matter to your child and family.
Both types of services can work together! Our goal is to support your child's communication wherever they are—in the classroom, at home, and in their community.
-
You don't have to have all the answers before reaching out! We offer free speech and language screenings and consultations with an SLP to help you better understand your child's communication development and determine what next steps, if any, may be helpful.
Whether you have a specific concern or just want a little reassurance, we're happy to help guide you in the right direction. No pressure, just support!
-
We offer appointments throughout the week, with availability varying by therapist and scheduling needs.

We're also happy to provide a superbill upon request for possible out-of-network insurance reimbursement.
